Visiting Nilkuthi & Amjhupi in Meherpur

It was a very exciting tour for me to visit Neelkuthi Amjuphi. We started our journey form Dhaka at late night by bus. After long journey, we reached our dream destination.  It was a winter morning and there was fog everywhere. The villages and the tress were covered by the fog. We were shivering with cold as very cold wind was blowing over there.

To have breakfast we sat in front of a great historical place Neelkuthi.  After taking our breakfast we started strolling in the garden. At the front side of the building, we saw a small Neel tree. In the front side of the Neelkuthi there is a large mango garden. Beside mango garden you will find some long coconut trees. There are many benches in the garden where you can sit and enjoy the nature of the Neelkuthi.
After visiting garden, we came in front of the Neelkuthi. In the front wall of the Neelkuthi we found a stone written the history of the Neelkuthi. It is written in Bengali. After reading five minutes you can know the historical background of the Neelkuthi. In the back side of the Neelkuthi, you will find a small garden where you can sit and if you want you can enjoy food with your friends.

Neelkuthi is a two storied building. In the ground floor you will find some furniture’s and some historical things used by the English. It is not allowed for the visitor to visit the first floor. You will find a small river back of the Neelkuthi. Still beside the river there is a jetty which was used by the English.

If you would like to spend late afternoon with your dearest or nearest one setting beside the river, I think this place will be the ideal place for you. Even with a group of friends you can spend your time. If someone can play guitar or sing a song, that will be wonderful. One of our friends sang a song late afternoon in this palace, I still remember that moment.

The Neelkuthi is the symbol of the oppression of the English people. It was built during the time of English rule. The English people oppressed the local farmers and graved the land from the farmers. Lord Clive with some other high English officials regularly meets here to make a conspiracy against the Indian empire.  So this building bears a great historical importance for our nation.
The English started conspiracy against the Indian empire from this place. They begin their plot starting the oppression against the Neel farmer. Then finally they grabbed all the Indian empire as a result we come under British oppression for more than 200 years. So you will find the hidden history while visiting this place.
The original Kuthi Bari which was built earlier damaged earlier and the present one was built later. We saw the ruinous earlier building beside the Neel Kuthi. At the late afternoon we said good bye to the historical building Neel Kuthi.

He was born in 777 A.D. at Bostan in Iran. He came to Indian and it is said that hevisited Chittagong. There is no mazar of the saint in the shrine. It is an astana and chilla associated with the name of the great saint. A mosque built during the region of Emperor Aurangazeb stands on the bank of a big tank at the foot of the hillock on which the shrine is situated. There are several hundred tortoises in the tank. Tradition has it that these animals are evil spirits (Djinns) who were cast into this shape because they incurred the wrath of the great saint who visited the place about 1.100 years ago.

An Wounderful iland

St. Martins Island is the most beautiful Coral Island where you will find live corals. Its only 30 km from Teknaf and you can go there by local motorboat, tourist boats, or sea truck.

This small coral island about 10km (6mi) southwest of the southern tip of the mainland is a tropical cliché, with beaches fringed with coconut palms and bountiful marine life. There’s nothing more strenuous to do here than soak up the rays, but it’s a clean and peaceful place without even a mosquito to disrupt your serenity

It’s possible to walk around the island in a day because it measures only 8 sq km (3 sq mi), shrinking to about 5 sq km (2 sq mi) during high tide. Most of island’s 5500 inhabitants live primarily from fishing, and between October and April fisher people from neighboring areas bring their catch to the island’s temporary wholesale market
